Lame Post/Question of the Day

So I have returned to Sport Clips for my hair cuts. I have found someone who routinely does a great job and it's a whole lot closer than Sole Patch. But this is my dilemma...Sport Clips offers free neck trimming which I'd love to take advantage of; however, am I obligated to tip the person who performs this free service? I would be in the chair for about 30 seconds, does that amount of time merit a tip? Or am I freed from tipping as a result of my continued patronage? What say you?

Do you not usually tip?

Having read my post again, I need to clarify something. The neck trim would be done in weeks following the original hair cut. Sure I always tip when I get a haircut, pretty generously in fact. I haven't taken advantage of the off-week neck trim yet, but if I do is the tip required?

I believe that's why we have hand held mirrors, and razors for. If those fail you always have the wifey.

Matt-I've been doing that for the last 8 years or so, but if it's free and it saves some life on my razor blades, then why not?

As the owner of a Sport Clips location, I can state categorically that no, you are never obliged to tip at all, including after one of our complimentary neck trims. Tipping is solely at our clients discretion. I'm glad to see you have tried us out. Did you try our signature MVP service? If not, you should mention to your stylist that you are a new client. At many Sport Clips locations, (not all), new clients are offered a complimentary upgrade to the MVP. Enjoy!

And just to clarify for those who may be unfamiliar: The Sport Clips MVP service includes a precision haircut, scalp-massaging shampoo, a leave-in conditioner, a hot steamed towel with facial massage, and a neck and shoulder massage. All of this for around $20 at most locations! Try one today!
